Their courage then, our strength today. They led the path; we light the way.” As we look forward to International Women's Day 2025, we honor the remarkable achievements of Alice Augusta Ball, whose innovative work in chemistry led to a groundbreaking treatment for leprosy. As the first woman and first African American to earn a master’s degree from the University of Hawaii, Ball’s ingenuity and perseverance broke barriers and laid the groundwork for future advancements in scientific procurement and research. At CIL, we’re proud to spotlight Megha Rokade, senior buyer at CIL Isotope Separations (CIS), our Xenia, OH, location, who carries forward this legacy of excellence in scientific procurement. Megha’s dedication ensures that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, reflecting the same courage and pioneering spirit that Alice Ball embodied. In Megha’s words, "Being powerful in thought doesn't necessarily mean being loud or assertive—it's about having wisdom, humility, and a clear sense of purpose. When you're able to balance strength with humility, you can create positive change and uplift others in ways that might not be immediately obvious but are deeply impactful" From Alice Ball’s contributions to today’s strategic procurement, women continue to shape the landscape of science through innovation and determination. Join us in celebrating the extraordinary women who illuminate the path to progress and inspire us every day! #WomenInScience #ScientificProcurement #CambridgeIsotopeSeparations #IWD2025

About us
Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, Inc. (CIL) is the world leader in the separation and manufacture of stable isotopes and stable isotope-labeled compounds. With approximately 700 employees and laboratories in five countries, CIL specializes in the process of labeling biochemical and organic compounds with highly enriched, stable (non-radioactive) isotopes of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen. Our chemists substitute a common atom for a rare, highly valued isotopic component so that the final product can be readily measured or traced using mass spectrometry (mass spec) or nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). CIL¹s products are utilized in laboratories, medical, government and academic research centers and health care facilities worldwide. We are proud that CIL products have contributed to medical advancements in cancer research, new drug development, environmental analysis, genomics and proteomics and medical diagnostic research. CIL¹s vision began when it was founded in 1981 by Dr. Joel Bradley, an organic chemist from MIT. We now produce more than 15,000 products and have ISO 13485 quality systems, as well as cGMP production capabilities. The CIL group is comprised of six companies: Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, Inc. (CIL), CIL Isotope Separations (CIS), CIL Canada, Inc. in Montreal, Canada; Euriso-Top in Saclay, France; ABX GmbH in Dresden, Germany and CIL China.

“Honoring the women who paved the way for those shaping our every day.” Four more days until International Women's Day 2025! Today we recognize Rachel Carson, whose groundbreaking work revolutionized environmental science and consciousness. Her seminal book “Silent Spring” not only exposed the dangers of pesticides but fundamentally changed how we approach environmental analysis and protection. Carson’s meticulous research and dedication led to crucial environmental protection policies and inspired generations of scientists to look deeper into our impact on the natural world. At Cambridge Isotope Labs, we’re proud to have Kayla Meehan, assistant product manager – Environmental Products, carrying forward this legacy of environmental stewardship. Kayla’s knowledge in environmental analysis and commitment to advancing analytical solutions helps laboratories worldwide monitor and protect our environment, embodying the same spirit of scientific dedication that Carson championed. Kayla states "The innovation, diversity, and strength that women demonstrate as scientists, researchers, educators, advocates, and policy makers for environmental protection efforts inspires me every day. I am proud to be part of this community that cares so deeply for the well-being of our planet and our people." From Rachel Carson’s revolutionary insights to today’s environmental challenges, women continue to lead the way in protecting our planet through scientific innovation. Here’s to the pioneers who taught us to listen to nature and to those who help us measure, understand, and preserve it! 🌍 💪 #WomenInScience #EnvironmentalScience #CambridgeIsotopeLabs #IWD2025
