Shame on the language industry for selling the idea that accent training is important. These intelligent university students showed high level CONVERSATIONAL second language skills in my interviews. These foreign students will be highly valued by employers because of their bilingual SPEAKING SKILLS, achieving something that very close to 100% of native born English second language educators NEVER accomplish.

We need to raise the performance bar in education with the right tools and training.You see, educators are not interested in examining result phases these days. This has severely reduced progress and prosperity in our society, demonstrating a lack of common sense in education.

Second language kids in a classroom is like six year olds being in a university lecture. But children do not know that what they are going through is something that most adults would not tolerate. Most children adapt by acting out or staying mute, waiting desperately for the class to end. Is that education?

We are all severely judged by what we say and how we talk about ideas. While students these days learn not to participate in conversation, I believe that they must be shown how to deliver smooth, logical, and eloquent presentations of information. The fear of speaking and the accompanying mental health effects of high anxiety, shame, and panic attacks must be eliminated.

Woke ideas, DEI, tribalism, gender, and emotional intelligence are no substitute for high level discussion, group problem solving, clear, brief, and orderly presentation of information, confident conversational ability, and failure in the pursuit of experimentation and research…leading to discovery. The quality of education has never been lower.

I left a very easy life as a second language teacher. I sleep much better now that a certain uneasy feeling is no longer present. These days, I publish posts that make some people feel uncomfortable. But people have to know the result phase. Almost all educators refuse to comment, like there is nothing to see here. But anyone thinking that I will be intimidated by this industry and fade away… is CATEGORICALLY wrong.
