Thank you, GBX Group LLC, for the continued partnership! 🤝 Our team is excited to bring this historically registered project to life, preserving its legacy 🏛 while infusing it with renewed purpose and character. Stay tuned as we share updates on the transformation journey, highlighting the craftsmanship, innovative design, and dedication behind every phase. ✨
GBX Group had the pleasure of attending the PLACES Conference last month in Walla Walla, hosted by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation. The conference allowed preservationists, planners and downtown development professionals to dive deep into creative ideas, build their networks and inspire new solutions. Attendees had the opportunity to view two properties currently under development, with a tour led by Antonin Robert, President of Community Development. The development of these buildings is made possible by an array of historic preservation programs, as well as state and federal preservation organizations. Special shout out to John T. Campo, Jr. and Campo Architecture & Interior Design for their work on these projects, as well as Chris Moore with the Washington Trust for the opportunity to educate attendees on historic programs, such as the federal Historic Preservation Easement. 📸: Washington Trust for Historic Preservation #HistoricPreservation

📣Louisiana’s Historic Tax Credit Program is on the Chopping Block!📣 As Louisiana considers tax reform, a vital resource for preserving our heritage—the Louisiana Rehabilitation of Historic Structures Tax Credit Program—is at risk. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗔 𝗛𝗧𝗖 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: ▪ Since 2011,1,879+ 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 have used the LA HTC, sparking over $7.1 𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 in private investments across Louisiana. ▪ Each dollar of state tax credit results in $8.76 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 and contributes to our state’s growth and resilience. ▪ This credit has created thousands of jobs, supported small businesses, and revitalized historic districts statewide. ▪ LA HTC is 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚, benefiting municipalities, non-profits, churches, and schools to strengthen entire communities. At Campo, we’re committed to preserving these treasures through our work in historic tax credit consulting, architecture and interior design. Without the financial incentive provided by the credits, many historic buildings that already face neglect and abandonment can ultimately disappear from our communities. ➡️To our Louisiana friends, we urge you to support our local program and keep our state’s rich history alive! And to those in other states, please consider supporting similar initiatives in your own communities.

🏢 With the National Trust for Historic Preservation Conference and Preservation Action Foundation Annual Auction being held in New Orleans, John T. Campo, Jr. had a busy week! He attended the Preservation Action Foundation Annual Auction and led two insightful tours of past historic adaptive reuse projects, now known as the Eliza Jane and the Mercantile Hotel! 🏨 Both projects exemplify the delicate art of transforming historic structures into modern hotels while preserving their unique character. The tours highlighted the importance of collaboration with local SHPO offices and showcasing how thoughtful solutions can bring new life to cherished buildings. As a board member of Preservation Action, John is committed to championing historic preservation in his projects and advocacy. 🙏 A special thanks to Antonin Robert, Kim Trent, and Preservation Action for your coordination and support.

🏆 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 🏆 Campo has won the 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑯𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 (𝑳𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆) from the 𝐈𝐈𝐃𝐀 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 for the Moxy Houston Downtown project! This adaptive re-use of a historic 1922 Neo-Classical skyscraper transformed a former bank into a vibrant lifestyle hotel, honoring the building's unique character with elements inspired by vintage banking equipment and antique currency. Our team was in attendance to accept this honor, and we couldn't be prouder of their dedication and hard work. We're also deeply grateful to Highrock Hospitality for trusting us with this project and to Brand Standard Furnishings for sponsoring Campo at the event. #interiordesign #architecture #historicpreservation
