  • Jamie Bartz thrives on change.    So it’s no surprise she’s worked in a wide range of roles since joining Cape Cod Healthcare in 2009 — and growing her career here in the process. From positions in payroll, revenue cycle and patient access to her current role as senior manager of case management operations, Jamie loves figuring out new and innovative ways to improve processes. For our monthly 10 Questions segment, we recently caught up with Jamie at her office on North Street in Hyannis to learn more about a day in her life, the one superpower she wishes she had, and her favorite places to explore on the Cape. • Cheers to New Beginnings! Congratulations to Stephanie and Nick Goode, proud parents of Valerie Karen—the first baby born at Cape Cod Hospital in 2025. “I have never accomplished a New Year’s resolution so quickly before,” says new mom Stephanie. “My resolution was to have a healthy baby, and at 12:01 a.m., my resolution was achieved!” Weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and 19 inches in length, Valerie made an early and grand entrance into the world at 12:01 a.m. on January 1. Her original due date was January 3. “She had a plan for yesterday and she was ready to go,” says Stephanie, 30, who started her day by walking their dog and working at home, but then contractions started in the early afternoon. Instead of getting together with family for New Year’s Eve, the young couple greeted the New Year with an adorable bundle of joy. “I have never been so happy on so little sleep before,” says Stephanie, adding Valerie will have a fun birthday forever. The name Valerie was inspired by a song by singer Amy Winehouse and middle name Karen honors Stephanie’s late mother. The Brewster couple says they are so thankful for the caring and thoughtful staff at Cape Cod Hospital, who brought them Happy New Year hats, necklaces and sparkling grape juice after the baby was born. “We are so appreciative of everything they have done for us. It was a fun celebration!” 📸: New parents Stephanie, Nick and baby Valerie Last photo: Family with Kayleigh Eckstrom, Certified Nurse Midwife #NewYearsBaby #NewBeginnings #HappyNewYear #BundleofJoy #FreshStart

  • Poinsettias for patients! A heartfelt thank you to the Graham family of Graham LLC, a family run construction and landscape company in Hyannis, for their generous donation of 700 beautiful poinsettias for our inpatients at Cape Cod Hospital, Falmouth Hospital, JML Care Center and Heritage at Falmouth — an annual tradition that started in 2016. Two days before Christmas, Cape Cod Healthcare staff helped assemble the poinsettia gift bags, which included a thoughtful and heartwarming note from Michael Lauf, president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare. Thank you to the Graham family and CCHC staff for spreading extra holiday cheer and making this season a little brighter for our patients! #MakingSpiritsBright #ThankYou #HolidayCheer #Gratitude #CommunitySupport #SeasonofGiving

  • Cool gifts for our amazing nurses! Thank you to the Zarkin family for donating coolers from @rticoutdoors to Cape Cod Hospital nurses this week. A special shout-out to the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation for working with the Zarkin family every year and delivering gifts to the nurses. Susan and Herb Zarkin of Mashpee established the appreciation fund at Cape Cod Hospital in 2015 because they wanted to recognize exceptional care they personally received. “We wanted to do something for those who are on the frontline every day taking care of patients and interfacing with their families,” said Herb Zarkin. 📸: Cape Cod Hospital nurses from Mugar 4 and South 2 chill out together! #GiftingWithPurpose #HappyHolidays #CaringCommitmentCommunity
