𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕. In some ways, however, it is more challenging today despite all of the tools available to us. Let’s talk patient outreach. Ten years ago, we often conducted outreach via telephone. While leading a project with a local health plan, we reached 65-75% of members. Today, 65-75% is a pipe dream. Outreach success today via the telephone is 15-25%. Because of the proliferation of scam artists, fraudsters, impostors and the traditional sales call, why would anyone answer a phone call? We conducted outreach telephonically for a recent study over the last 18 months. A mistake. Our outreach must be face-to-face. Two suggestions: 1 - An obvious one, RPM can be introduced when the patient presents at the office. 2 - Not so obvious, RPM can also be introduced in the home. Not via telephone but via a nurse. And it does not have to be nurse employed by you. Collaborate with a top-notch skilled home care company. Train their nurses, allow them to introduce the device to the patient in the home. Enormous benefits accrue for the patient and family. An effective RPM Program reduces cost via lower acute care utilization. We also enhance quality of life by enabling the patient to live at home. Via lower acute care utilization, business opportunities ensue for both the physician practice as well as the home care agency. Lower return rates to the hospital raises the curiosity of others. Who are these others? Hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, health systems, health plans to name a few. These are major business opportunities. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅: 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉, 𝒂 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆-𝒕𝒐-𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉. This is step 1 of the outreach phase. The next step is the type of patient that we engage with. This could make or break your program. We will save this one for next time! #rpm #remotemonitoring #healthtech #physician #doctor #nurse #caremanagement

*Healthcare has been rapidly expanding, adding 68,000 jobs according to the May CES report. But what do changes in employment tell us about how the healthcare has evolved in the last almost-decade? *Technology is transforming patient care. Occupations connected to artificial intelligence, such as computer systems analysts and data scientists, have grown as fast as patient-care roles. While still a small part of the healthcare workforce, an average of 5,000 AI-related jobs are posted each month. With increased technology and changes in reimbursement such as Medicare’s Hospital at Home program, care is expanding into patients’ homes. Home health aides make up 7.3% of the healthcare workforce second only to registered nurses at 15.8%. *Hospital systems continue to expand in size and complexity through horizontal and vertical integration, leading to over 50% growth in management occupations since 2015. Community and social service jobs have expanded even faster at 57%, driven by increased awareness of mental health and a rise in substance abuse. Psychiatric technician jobs have also expanded 177%, adding 45,000 jobs. *Increased incidents in hospitals in the wake of the pandemic also have led to 23% growth in protective service occupations . *Even as the healthcare workforce as a whole grew 20%, transportation and material moving, food preparation and facilities and property management were flat or declined. Health systems and providers are expanding patient care but doing more with fewer workers in these supporting occupations. Increased efficiency, use of technology, and outsourcing all likely play a role, although lack of available talent and thin margins contribute as well.

Have you heard about Locum Tenens? It's a Latin phrase meaning "to hold the place of." In healthcare, it refers to professionals who temporarily fill positions, providing crucial support where there are staffing shortages or during peak demand periods. This flexible practice model allows physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to travel and work in diverse settings, from rural clinics to bustling urban hospitals, gaining invaluable experience along the way. It's not just about flexibility; it's about making an impact where healthcare is needed most. I'm excited to dive deeper into this dynamic field and connect with professionals interested in exploring Locum Tenens opportunities. Whether you're curious about this career path or have experiences to share, let's start a conversation! #LocumTenens #Healthcare #MedicalField #TemporaryStaffing #HealthcareCareers
