What a great day to use CapMetro’s new zippy Bikeshare to travel to an equally energetic lunch presentation unveiling designs for the new Austin Convention Center! Thanks to AIA Urban Design Committee for hosting the event and special thanks to Susan Daniels AIA CNUa PMP for inviting us!

Last week, #CapMetro Rail and Real Estate teams were given a tour of the new Rhino Hotmix asphalt plant and Armadillo Materials aggregates yard at Crofford Rail Park. Armadillo Materials, part of the TEX MIX PARTNERS LTD family of companies, leverages freight railroad owned by CapMetro to move materials to this site off Hwy 290 to help build buildings and infrastructure throughout Central TX. By shipping materials via rail, they’re able to pull big trucks off our already congested roadways—something we can all get on board with.

Today marks an exciting milestone as we introduce initial service for our new CapMetro Rapid lines starting February 23! Routes 800 & 837 represent the first phase of expanded high-frequency service for our growing region. While we're starting with initial service on these routes, I'm particularly excited about what's ahead. This is just the beginning – we're working toward our full vision that will bring even more connections and frequency by 2026. Stay tuned for a larger community celebration when we reach that milestone! Thank you to Board Chair Jeffrey Travillion, Kammy Horne, AICP, Greg Canally, Michael Rogers, and several others for joining us at the Delco Center today to celebrate this important step forward.
