Climate change is an intergenerational problem that requires intergenerational leadership. The Universal NDC Youth Clause is a call to action for governments to adopt forward-looking commitments for sustained youth inclusion in climate decision-making in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). With many NDCs coming in late, and room for improvement across the board in many submitted NDCs, we are taking our advocacy for the clause to the next level. 🌍 Youth Activism and #Climate Justice at COP29 Azerbaijan 🌍 Young people's voices are becoming increasingly urgent, demanding #climate action and #justice. At COP29 Azerbaijan in Baku, youth representatives and climate advocates clarified that the time for bold decisions is now. UN Secretary-General captured the collective frustration: "You have every right to be angry. I am angry too… because we are on the verge of the #climate abyss, and I don’t see enough urgency or political will to address the #emergency." Basmallah Rawash, a youth climate activist and Care About Climate volunteer also emphasized a key point: "We are not the ones who caused this, but we are the ones that will carry the burden of the biggest struggle at the moment." The decisions made here will ripple across generations. Ambitious agreements that deliver the necessary finance and bold commitments can pave the way for a resilient, low-carbon future for all. We must stand in solidarity, support, and action to ensure these calls for #justice are not ignored.
