Global Collaboration in Cell Therapy! 🌍 This week, CTMC, located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center (TMC), welcomed leadership from the National Cancer Center Japan, Office of International Affairs and Mitsui Fudosan during their visit to Houston. Their trip was part of ongoing discussions about the JACT program (Japan-Accelerator Cancer Therapeutics and Medical Devices), part of the TMC Japan BioBridge designed to support startups selected under the National Cancer Center Japan's Seed Acceleration Program (NCC SAP) with expert guidance on milestones, financial planning, regulatory strategy, and strategic partnerships - key elements for successfully bringing cutting-edge medical innovations to the U.S.   With TMC being the world’s largest medical center, home to top-tier research institutions, hospitals, and biotech innovators, it is the perfect setting for discussions on how we can collectively accelerate advancements in cancer therapeutics and medical technology. As cell therapy moves toward commercialization, traditional centralized manufacturing models face challenges due to the patient-specific nature of these therapies. Unlike small molecules or monoclonal antibodies, cell therapy requires a tightly controlled, patient-adjacent supply chain with strict time constraints and end-to-end traceability. To address these complexities, the industry will shift toward fit-for-purpose manufacturing, incorporating regionalized production and advanced digital logistics to enhance quality, scalability, and patient access.
