It’s National Adoption Month, and we are happy to announce that ODHS Child Welfare has joined the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) as an official training host site! NTI’s web-based training equips staff with skills and knowledge to improve adoption and permanency outcomes. The curriculum focuses on the complex mental health needs of children in foster care, addressing trauma, grief, loss and identity development. The NTI training will be available to 3,500 caseworkers. ODHS will begin working with policy consultants this December who will champion successful implementation and roll out in summer 2025. She and her team have trained over 30,000 mental-health and child-welfare professionals in 43 states and territories and provided clinical services to more than 9,000 clients and their families. As Debbie likes to say, "When we invest in the mental health and well-being of adoptees and their families, we create a path for healing, self-discovery, and unlocking their full potential.” "Like" and ♻️ if you agree with Debbie—that the mental health of those who are adopted is the path toward unlocking a child's full potential. #adoption #AHOF
