On Friday, December 13, 2024, CWB-A University of Waterloo Chapter and Centre for Advanced Materials Joining (CAMJ) will host a research symposium at the University of Waterloo, ON—a day dedicated to groundbreaking insights and innovation.
We are honored to welcome Prof. Anming Hu as our distinguished invited speaker. Prof. Hu will present a fascinating talk entitled, ''Progress of Nanojoining: The Past, Today, and Beyond'' offering a fascinating journey through the evolution and future of this cutting-edge field. He will talk about thermal and nonthermal mechanisms, nanomanipulations, and recent advancements in nanojoining, highlighting applications in power electronics, 3D additive manufacturing, and future innovations like next-generation batteries, catalysis, and molecular electronics.
Prof. Hu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, specializing in ultrafast lasers and nanotechnology.
Prof. Anming Hu earned his first Ph.D. in 1997 from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his second Ph.D. in 2008 from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo. He then joined the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo as a research assistant professor. In 2012, he was appointed as a guest professor at the Institute of Laser Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, China, and served as a visiting professor at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Harvard University.
With his expertise and groundbreaking research, this event provides an opportunity to learn from one of the leading minds in this field.
