If you look closely at the curves in this graphic, you'll notice something remarkable: we're entering the era of exponential growth in electrification and efficiency. While renewables have been on this trajectory since the 2010s, the rapid acceleration we’re seeing now in electric technologies and energy efficiency marks a pivotal moment. The clean energy transition isn’t just happening—it’s hitting its stride. 🚀 Let’s keep our foot on the pedal and make the most of this momentum. iPods 📈 Walkmans 📉 Cars 📈 Horses 📉 Steel 📈 Cast iron 📉 As new clean technologies achieve S-curve growth, the incumbent technologies retreat along an inverse path, creating an X pattern that is a hallmark of technology evolution. Just as cars pushed out horses as the dominant mode of transportation, innovative technologies are transforming the energy system: Solar and wind are taking over the electricity supply as they continue to get cheaper, pushing out fossil-fueled electricity. Electricity is the new dominant energy carrier, transcending the inefficiencies and pollution from burning fossil fuel molecules. Efficient renewable electrification is removing wasteful combustion from the energy system. Learn more: https://bit.ly/49LrQbV

Northampton, MA — December 16th, 2024 — The BOMBYX Center for Arts & Equity has been accredited Carbon Conscious, an award offered by CET, for implementing carbon-cutting measures at the performing arts venue. This accreditation recognizes Bombyx’s dedication to combating climate change and fostering sustainability. “With the measures we have implemented, we have reduced over 800 lifetime tons of carbon and hope to increase that number in the future,” said Cassandra Holden, Executive Director of Bombyx. “We need to be looking at resources and impacts. It's inescapable. Those aspects are so interconnected that we can't pull them apart.” The Bombyx Center for Arts and Equity is the first organization to achieve CET's Carbon Conscious Business Accreditation, leading the way for businesses across all sectors to integrate sustainability as a core part of their operations. Their impact of 800 lifetime tons of carbon is equivalent to the yearly carbon sequestration provided by 36,666 mature trees. "We are thrilled to recognize Bombyx as a Carbon Conscious Business. By committing to concrete, measurable steps, Bombyx demonstrates the power of local businesses to model a future where sustainability and operational efficiency go hand-in-hand," said Ashley Muspratt, President & CEO of CET. "Carbon Conscious businesses like Bombyx show what's possible when organizations make climate action a priority in their operations."

The Greenfield Recorder spoke to CET's Customer Relationship Lead Khrysti Smyth Barry at the Town of Greenfield Massachusetts Energy Fair. Khrysti shared information about the MassHousing Energy Saver Home Loan Program (ESHLP) and the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank. Khrysti explained the benefits of the program to reporter Erin-Leigh H.“If you’re using less resources, that ultimately will be a cost savings, even though your return on investment might be a little bit longer, depending on what your specific situation is. Another [reason] could be because it’s the thing that will eventually save the planet,” Barry said. “All our efforts added up … is going to really make a difference.” ❤️ 🌍 About the program: The Energy Saver Home Loan Program is designed to help low- and moderate-income homeowners make clean energy improvements to their homes. This new program lowers barriers to clean energy adoption and assists property owners to cut their energy use and reduce or eliminate their reliance on fossil fuels by providing affordable financing and high-touch customer service features.
