With the recent closure of the Hartford trash-to-energy plant and aging incineration infrastructure, Connecticut is exporting nearly 1M tons of solid waste each year to out-of-state landfills and incinerators, according to CT DEEP data. Chamber ECT's newest Benefactor Reworld Waste however has plans to close that gap with its new thermomechanical technology at its Preston treatment facility. We are grateful for this new partnership and exploring ways the state can decrease its environmental footprint. Learn more about the mission at TheDay.com. As we reflect on President Jimmy Carter's legacy, we honor his support during the '05 campaign "Save Our Subase" against Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) for Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton. “President Carter will be remembered in history as one of our nation’s most humble presidents, whose honorable service to the United States began when he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed for several years in Connecticut at Naval Submarine Base New London,” stated Governor Ned Lamont. “...he championed many of the biggest and most notable causes of the era, carried himself with grace and integrity, treated others with dignity and respect regardless of whether they were a political ally or foe, and above all worked to implement policies that make our country a more equitable place for all to live and thrive,” Lamont emphasized. The Chamber is grateful for its strong ties to neighboring Subbase and the impact its well-kept establishment has had on the livelihood of the region. The Chamber ECT office would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season! From our company to yours, thank you for your support this past year. This staff photo was taken at our recent Chamber Foundation Holiday Gala, which raised a record number of funds for our partner charity. This event is just one of the many causes we hold dear to our hearts, and we thank all who made this and the many others possible. We cannot wait to see what 2025 will bring for our membership and the region!

Each year, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation raises funds for children and families of the region in need. This money is made possible through a bowl-a-thon and the Holiday Gala. We are proud to announce that the 39th Annual Holiday Gala was a record fundraiser-raising approximately $120,000! Thank you to all of our sponsors, partners, and the hard-working all-volunteer Gala committee who made this possible. Visit our Facebook to view our gallery of this year's event photos and stay tuned for a Chamber announcement for which 2025 charities will benefit! https://lnkd.in/eKFzT2as
