Last week, I attended a founders + investors event hosted by Dulari Amin and Marisa Hodgdon from sidelines.vc, an investment platform that connects underrepresented founders with accredited capital sources (angels, super angels, family offices, syndicates) to power tomorrow's billion-dollar enterprises. Dulari talked about her experience as an under-funded minority founder who grew and exited her business and how she struggled with deal flow when transitioning into her next phase as an investor (due to the exclusivity and homogeneity within the investment community.) As a woman and AAPI founder, I'm living this story with Cheeky Cocktails and was inspired and moved to see all of the diverse founders and investors in the room nodding their heads in agreement. Ample data shows investing in underrepresented founders is a huge, untapped opportunity. Who better to invest than those who have experienced the problem themselves? They say you're the product of the five people you spend the most time with. But I believe you can also transfer inspiring positive energy in brief interactions.
