Throughout the month of February, our schools have integrated lessons about the history and contributions of Black Americans in honor of Black History Month. One highlight: Pre-K students learned about Robert Flemming Jr., who created the "Euphonica" guitar for a richer, more resonant sound. Not only did they learn about an amazing inventor, but through hands-on activities they discovered how sound vibrations work, boosting creativity, fine motor skills, and auditory perception—all while having fun! #BlackHistoryMonth #Education

What a joy talking with these 2nd and 3rd grade students and future civic leaders at Chesterbrook Academy in West Goshen. There were so many thoughtful questions from these young leaders about my role as a Senator, public service, and how they can make a difference in the world around them. Thank you to the students, teachers, and staff for the warm welcome, this was a true highlight of my week.

Preschool students and families at our schools have shown the power of compassion and kindness as they came together to donate food to those in need. Multiple organizations benefitted from their donations; one highlight was Chesterbrook Academy West Chester preschool students collecting over 1,000 cans to benefit the Chester County Food Bank. Service learning inspires leadership and builds character in our students. At Chesterbrook Academy Raleigh, our Preschool and Intermediate students are leading a campaign to help support the Wake County Animal Shelter! Throughout the month of February they will be collecting donations for the shelter and we know they will make a big impact for the animals there! #Fundraiser #ServiceLearning #CommunityService

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Our students will explore the contributions of local and influential African Americans through books, hands-on learning experiences, and thoughtful classroom discussions. Our middle school students from Chesterbrook Academy Cary excelled at the Future City North Carolina 2025 competition! The team achieved great success, winning the Specialty Award for Passion for Energy. With the guidance of a faculty mentor, these students have worked for several months on creating a city of the future with this year's theme of "Above the Current" in mind. Their challenge was to design a floating city and provide two innovative examples of how your floating city works and keeps its citizens healthy and safe. Our Holiday Giving initiative was a huge success this year, thanks to the incredible support from our school community! Together, we were able to spread joy and kindness to families in need, making this holiday season a little brighter for everyone. This year, we were able to donate or raise funds for: 🍞 1,700+ food items weighing over 940 pounds 🧸 1,000+ toys plus $500 of toy donations 🧥 14 bags of winter coats, 85 winter clothing items, and 180 pajamas 🪥 45 personal care items ⚕️ 10 medical kits 🐶 39 pet items 🧷 10+ cases of diapers and wipes 💵 $2,750+ in monetary donations and gift cards We couldn’t be more grateful for the generosity shown.
