🌟 Prototyping a Multi-Agent System for IEP Development: CoIEP 🌟 We’re excited to highlight the innovative work of Dr. Ling Zhang (University of Wyoming), Dr. Haidee Jackson (The University of Texas Permian Basin Basin), and Dr. Sohyun Yang (Fort Hays State University). Their groundbreaking project introduces an AI-powered multi-agent system to streamline IEP development. 🔍 What’s Unique About CoIEP? 1. Unlike single-agent systems, CoIEP uses three specialized AI agents: 1️⃣ Generating Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) statements. 2️⃣ Crafting SMART-aligned IEP goals. 3️⃣ Recommending individualized supports and services based on evidence-based practices. 2. Collaboration at its Core: The model emphasizes AI-human collaboration, enabling educators to iteratively refine outputs while ensuring privacy and personalization. 3. Addressing Teacher Workloads: By automating complex tasks, CoIEP has the potential to reduce teacher burden and enhance the quality of IEPs. 🧩 Looking Ahead: While still in the prototyping phase, this multi-agent system shows great promise for improving efficiency, accuracy, and outcomes in special education through structured, evidence-based tools. 📺 Watch now: Part 1 https://lnkd.in/gm3cbK6j Part 2 https://lnkd.in/gsxaZNuK 📚 Supplemental resources: https://lnkd.in/gGDn4tVg #SpecialEducation #AIED #IEPDevelopment #TeacherSupport #InclusiveEducation #EdTech #InnovationInEducation

🌟 Using Generative AI for IEP Goals: Insights and Experiences from Special Education Teachers 🌟 We’re excited to highlight an empirical study presented by Danielle Waterfield A. Waterfield, Dr. Olivia Fudge Coleman, and Nathan (Nate) P. Welker from the University of Virginia. Their research explores how generative AI can support the development of high-quality IEP goals while addressing the challenges special education teachers face. 🔍 Key Findings: 1. IEP Goal Quality: AI-generated IEP goals were found to be comparable in quality to those written by teachers. 2. Reducing Workload: AI has the potential to reduce teachers' cognitive load when developing IEP goals, addressing time-intensive demands. 3. Human Expertise: While AI shows promise, the study underscores the importance of human expertise to refine and personalize outputs. 4. Professional Development: The researchers emphasize the need for training teachers on effective AI use. 📺 Watch now: https://lnkd.in/gi9X2aMF 📚 Supplemental resources: https://lnkd.in/gGDn4tVg #SpecialEducation #AIED #IEPDevelopment #TeacherWorkload #InclusiveEducation #EdTech

🌟 CIDDL Recorded Webinar: Developing Quality IEP Goals in the Age of AI 🌟 We’re thrilled to feature "Developing Quality IEP Goals in the Age of AI," part of CIDDL's recorded webinar series, "Artificial Intelligence for IEP Development." Presented by Drs. Chengan Yuan and Juliet Hart Barnett, professors at Arizona State University, the session dives into how generative AI tools are revolutionizing Individualized Education Program (IEP) development. 🔍 What’s Covered? 1. The importance of crafting high-quality, SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) IEP goals that meet legal and educational standards. 2. Six strategies for using AI effectively to develop SMART IEP goals, including crafting clear prompts, utilizing reference texts, and iterative testing. 3. Addressing key challenges, such as safeguarding data, mitigating bias, and fostering meaningful collaboration with families. 4. A call for further research to enhance AI's role in special education. 📺 Watch now: https://lnkd.in/gUMV5Tew 📚 Supplemental resources: https://lnkd.in/gGDn4tVg #SpecialEducation #AIED #IEPDevelopment #TeacherPreparation #InclusiveEducation

This week, CIDDL is showcasing our newly published Case Studies which can be found at https://lnkd.in/gvbznXU9 Dr. Lynn Scott and Dr. Rebecca Hinshaw represented Indiana State University. ISU, founded in 1870 in Terre Haute, offers over 100 undergraduate degrees and enrolls about 8,669 students. The Tech Alliance Team at ISU analyzed baseline data to enhance preservice teacher preparation through technology integration (such as AI, AR, and VR tools), identifying gaps, and developing a syllabi rubric for continuous improvement. As part of the Tech Alliance, they created resources such as the Syllabus Rubric and Sample Fall Tentative Course Syllabus Schedule to assess the overall use of technology in various key areas.
