Do you or someone you know need a ride to your polling location on Election Day? Through a partnership from AAPD’s REV UP Voting Campaign with Microsoft and Lyft, free or discounted rides to polls are available on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in seven cities, including New York City, where Lyft has wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) rides available. This code can also be used to book standard rides, if you do not need a WAV. For both WAV and standard rides, it is recommended that you reserve your ride in advance to avoid wait times and ensure you can get to the polls. Here’s how it works: Use the code MSFTA11YVOTE for $15 off per ride, valid for two rides. In addition to New York City, this offer is available in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, Philadelphia, PA, Phoenix, AZ, Portland, OR, and San Francisco, CA. Instructions for booking WAV: • To book a wheelchair-accessible ride, download and open the Lyft app. Open settings, then select “wheelchair access.” • When you book your ride, you will see “Wheelchair” as a ride type. • Enter the code MSFTA11YVOTE when booking your ride to and from your polling place. • Receive $15 off two rides on November 5. Instructions for booking a standard ride: • Download and open the Lyft app. • Enter the code MSFTA11YVOTE when booking your ride to and from your polling place. • Receive $15 off two rides on November 5. After you vote, whether it was in person on Election Day or early/absentee, please help us ensure that voting is accessible by completing CIDNY’s short post-voting survey here: https://lnkd.in/eTTynaK6.

Can you spare some time to help ensure NYC public spaces are accessible to all?
We need your help to make NYC more accessible, see below. Neurodivergent people are excluded from accessing public spaces due to design oversights regarding cognitive, sensory, and social experiences of the space. The Design Trust for Public Space recently launched The Neurodiverse City [https://lnkd.in/ecTpDwT8] to reimagine New York City’s public spaces — streets, playgrounds, plazas, and more — to better support a wider range of lived experiences. This fall, the project is conducting sensory audits and design-imagining workshops at two public space sites with neurodivergent communities to develop public pilot prototypes that showcase more inclusive urban planning practices and support the greatest range of physical and neurological differences. IMPORTANT: We need your help. We've launched two online surveys to gather input from neurodivergent populations around public space access in New York City and beyond, available to the general public to contribute a wider range of lived experiences.
