When Communities In Schools of Central Texas CEO Sharon Vigil looks to the future, she thinks about the Maasai people’s traditional greeting, “Kassaerian Ingera,” which means “How are the children?” They ask about the next generation because they understand the well-being of children is the best way to determine the future health and prosperity of their whole society. Thanks, Austin Independent School District’s Candace Hunter and LaRessa Quintana and Del Valle Independent School District’s VP Susanna Ledesma-Woody, Samuel F. (Samuel Franco) and Damián Pantoja for joining us at Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy this week—and for supporting Communities In Schools and all of our children! #TxEd #allinforkids Communities In Schools National Office

We are proud to have one of the longest-standing AmeriCorps partnerships in the region, placing members on school campuses for more than two decades. About 24 percent of our Central Texas team members are former members of the national service program.
Since OneStar began administering AmeriCorps in Texas 20 years ago, we have had seven programs that have endured with us throughout the decades. These programs recognized the impact of national service in its early days and never stopped evolving and growing to deepen their service to local communities. Join us in thanking these AmeriCorps Texas originals! #AmeriCorps30 ⭐4-H CAPITAL ⭐Amarillo ISD ⭐American YouthWorks ⭐Communities In Schools of Central Texas ⭐Literacy First ⭐Project Transformation North Texas ⭐Teach For America
