Highland Village is home to nearly 16,700 residents. Highland Village is a family-oriented community located in Denton County on the shores of Lewisville Lake. Consistently ranked as a safe city, residents enjoy and actively use the 19 parks, 349 acres in park use, 16 athletic fields, 2 boat launch areas, 2 docks, 54 campsites, 6 flex fields, 10 miles of city trails, 1 nature preserve, 7 ponds, and approximately 4 miles of shoreline.   • Congratulations to SRO Officer Ben McKelvey for being recognized as the First Responder of the Month by the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce! Please join us in congratulating Ben on this award and his service to our community. School Resource Officer Ben McKelvey has proudly served the citizens of Highland Village since 2017. Since joining HVPD, Ben has been instrumental in ensuring the safety of students and staff in the Lewisville Independent School District (LISD). His dedication has earned him several honors, including the 2024 Community Service Award, Employee of the Quarter, an Advanced Peace Officer license, and the Advanced School Resource Officer award. He is also a certified instructor in Civilian Response to Active Shooter events and holds a Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. This year, Ben played a key role in the TXFallenPD Tribute Event which honors Texas officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. The event has grown into a major community fundraiser, benefiting the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation, which provides financial support to the families of fallen officers. Since its inception, the event has raised over $500,000, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to honoring and supporting those who serve and protect.

  • The City of Highland Village is seeking a Deputy City Secretary to join our team. Highland Village is a vibrant, family-oriented community in southern Denton County, dedicated to exceptional public service and community engagement. As the Deputy City Secretary, you will play a key role in managing city records, ensuring compliance with state laws and City policies, and supporting the City Secretary in various official functions. You will be responsible for training City staff on records management practices, developing and overseeing records management systems, and assisting with public information requests, elections, and City Council meetings.   The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of records management principles, familiarity with Texas state laws, and experience with records management software. Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the effective governance of Highland Village and support our community's commitment to excellence in public service.   • At the February 13 meeting, a proclamation was given celebrating the retirement of Mark Rudder after 20 years of service. Rudder began in the Utilities Department in January 2004. He was promoted to Utility Crew Leader and then moved to the Streets Department as a Streets Crew Leader in 2008. Please join us in thanking Mark for his service to Highland Village. Congrats on your retirement, Mark!
