Grant Thornton consortium (Grant Thornton Advisory East Africa Limited and Grant Thornton Bharat LLP) in association with IPC GmbH are pleased to support the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) roll out capacity building to banks on the business case of Carbon Finance. The first cohort of banks in Kenya (Equity Bank Limited, Stanbic Bank Kenya and Family Bank Ltd) are currently undergoing training in Nairobi, Kenya. We are looking forward to presenting our findings from a comprehensive study tracking the adoption of electric pressure cookers in 500 households in Kampala, #Uganda. 🌍 Our extensive research utilized smart meters, household surveys, and electricity billing data to gain insights into how households engage with and benefit from #ElectricCooking appliances. 🔌🍲 Key initial findings highlight topics such as: ▫️ Gender imbalances in cooking labor ▫️ Barriers to the adoption of electric cooking ▫️ Awareness and responsiveness to discounted electricity tariffs ▫️ Significant opportunities for scaling up electric cooking solutions All of these findings will be showcased through our Appliance Demand Platform, an #opensource platform designed to aggregate and analyze #data for research projects, developed with support from The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP). The study was conducted in collaboration with Umeme Ltd., CREEC, and MECS programme.
