The City of Boise is taking a stand against extreme urban heat! A citizen science project led by young researchers from the Idaho Conservation Corps, in collaboration with CAPA STRATEGIES, LLC, the Centre for Regenerative Solutions (CRS), and the Treasure Valley Canopy Network, revealed that simple actions like planting trees can make a huge difference for residents. Tree canopies are critical in combating extreme urban heat and reducing energy burden, and we’re thrilled to see Boise taking action to meet the needs of the community. Last week, #ClimateMayors Chair and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego was the keynote speaker at the GreenBiz Sustainability Conference in Phoenix. In her speech, she highlighted the important role US cities play in international climate diplomacy and how the support of Climate Mayors has helped make Phoenix a sustainable capital in the US. “Climate mayors are helping cities get new local funding and we have had a good record in Phoenix. This November we passed a plan with broad public support to make the city the most sustainable desert city,” said Mayor Gallego.

Today, over 130 mayors & local elected from 39 states sent a letter to members of Congress calling on them to preserve all clean energy tax credits. 📄💵 Local governments and organizations would feel the brunt of any repeals and losing access to credits would place the viability of projects nationwide in jeopardy. These credits have allowed municipalities and local organizations to save thousands of dollars on infrastructure improvements and energy projects, all while delivering direct and much-needed benefits to communities.
