Our Mission: To stimulate economic growth and improve livelihoods by cultivating entrepreneurship.
About us
Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA) is an international non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. and Brussels, Belgium with offices in 16 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. We work with businesses, foundations, governments and communities to build customized local and global partnerships that meet the world’s growing demand for food. Since our inception in 1985, we have designed and implemented enterprise-based, agricultural development initiatives to facilitate market access, enhance agribusiness competitiveness, increase productivity and improve access to inputs and credit across 45 countries worldwide. 30+ years on, our staff remains the most significant driver in pursuing CNFA’s mission to stimulate economic growth and improve livelihoods by cultivating entrepreneurship. We champion the entrepreneurial spirit at all levels and embrace the notion that bold development solutions can come from singular, sometimes unexpected sources. Recognizing this is inherent in our DNA. Our diverse organization has grown to more than 500 employees worldwide – we are development experts but also experienced business owners, agronomists, and farmers. As a global team, this collective knowledge shapes and informs our work. We are a proud Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer and are supportive of family, wellness, and a healthy work-life balance. We are always looking for top talent.

In #Rwanda, approximately 15% of #maize crops are lost annually in the post-harvest process, impacting both farmer incomes and local food availability. To address this, the Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Wunguke Activity has partnered with EA Agro to support over 20,000 smallholder farmers in Gatsibo, Kayonza, Ngoma, and Bugesera districts by training 55 commercial agents as professional maize aggregators and equipping four collection centers with mobile dryers, shellers, and post-harvest tools to improve maize processing and reduce aflatoxin levels. In #Georgia, the USAID Resilient Communities Program is supporting the Georgian Blueberry Growers’ Association (GBGA) to provide training in cultivation and post-harvest management best practices for #blueberry producers throughout the country. By connecting growers, orchard managers, and agronomists with international experts, the Program has helped equip association members with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to strengthen competitiveness within the country’s blueberry value chain. The Program also plans to further this effort by organizing a study tour to Chile and Peru, where participants will establish new partnerships and business linkages to support improved packaging, cold storage, and post-harvest management.

Healthy #soils are vital for agricultural prosperity, providing over 95% of the food we consume. This #WorldSoilDay, CNFA recognizes the crucial role soil plays in ensuring food security, supporting farmer livelihoods, and addressing climate change through sustainable soil management practices. By protecting soils, we take a critical step toward building a more resilient and sustainable future.

This International Volunteer Day #IVD2024, CNFA celebrates the vital role of #volunteers in advancing sustainable development and addressing food security challenges. Through our USAID Farmer-to-Farmer Program Program, CNFA connects U.S. agricultural experts with farmers and agribusinesses in Southern Africa and Eastern Europe to strengthen food production, enterprise development, and market access. Through this work, volunteers help smallholder farmers improve their livelihoods and contribute to regional economic growth and food security. https://lnkd.in/eEqdGHb
