We are excited to announce the release of a new primer report on the UNFCCC REDD+ framework. This in-depth guide is an indispensable tool for anyone engaged in environmental policy and forest conservation. CfRN Managing Director Federica Bietta sheds light on the importance of this publication: "The REDD+ framework evolved over two decades of UNFCCC decisions – and for this reason, it’s not easily understood. The new primer report is perfect for governments, corporations, analysts, academics, and the media who are looking for a comprehensive understanding of the framework and all its elements." Key insights from the report include: ➡️ Countries reporting on national efforts to slow deforestation to UNFCCC ➡️ How UNFCCC's verification process verifies these efforts and rewards countries with emissions reductions ➡️ Development of methodology from various COP decisions ➡️ Latest guidelines on how REDD+ Results become carbon credits, called Internationally Transferable Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs), under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. In an era where reversing deforestation is more critical than ever, this primer report is an essential resource in understanding and implementing effective forest conservation and climate finance strategies. We need leaders in the room , that look at the long term sustainability goal and not only at the short term revenue. Nature base solutions for climate offer sustainability for this planet and all ecosystems on it and long term sustainable revenue , if properly structured. As partners like DB join us on this road, I am more optimistic everyday for a successful end to this story! Coalition for Rainforest Nations Deutsche Bank

Rainforests are home to over 50% of all life on Earth, harboring two-thirds of the world’s plant species and countless unique creatures. Yet, they are under threat from habitat destruction and climate change. Through the Paris Climate Agreement, developing countries are pioneering efforts to protect these critical ecosystems. Article 5 offers a groundbreaking approach, using carbon as a proxy for protecting biodiversity, providing financial incentives to slow, stop, and reverse deforestation. Join us at #COP29 for a Fireside Chat on the Importance of Rainforests for Biodiversity on Nov. 21 at 2:15 pm AST. Details: https://lnkd.in/g5_apwV3 Kevin Conrad

🌟 FINALLY, the central role, challenge and opportunities for #mining and minerals in the #energytransition is getting its due attention in the COP process! Resource-rich countries, mining companies, and midstream and downstream companies and countries in the mineral value chain are engaged in discussions around what a responsible, sustainable mineral value chain looks like, that accelerates the energy transition while minimizing impacts on the planet and ensuring host communities and regions capture the value of their resources. We are so pleased to host a panel at #COP29 with Deloitte and the Coalition for Rainforest Nations on Saturday November 16, 4pm, to explore the significant role of critical minerals in operationalizing a just energy transition. Among other things, we will discuss the recommendations from the recent UN Panel report on Critical Energy Transition Minerals. Please join us!
