The EPA’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program aims to make it easier for small, community-based organizations—particularly those with low capacity or resources—and other eligible organizations to access federal environmental justice funding for projects that identify, document, address, and respond to conditions related to environmental and/or climate injustice. Interested applicants should apply through the program for their geographic region. Due dates vary based on the location of your organization, so check your regional program for more information. Today, we celebrated an important milestone as the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced 45 Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund (DWCF) awards, totaling over $17 million. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY 🌳 Applications for Rooting Resilience are now open! We’re excited to announce Rooting Resilience, a new funding opportunity for community-based nonprofit organizations! Rooting Resilience will support planning and implementation of small community forestry projects in disadvantaged communities. With our partners at Anthropocene Alliance and Native Americans in Philanthropy, we’ll be providing free technical assistance during both the application process and the grant period. This is to support organizations who are new to federal funding and may need additional help applying for or managing this grant. Two types of grants are available for projects over a period of 1-3 years: $75,000 “Seedling” awards for smaller projects, and $75,000-$200,000 “Sapling” awards for larger projects. This opportunity is possible thanks to a grant from the Urban & Community Forestry Program of the Forest Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, under the Inflation Reduction Act. We are also hosting two informational webinars NEXT WEEK on 9/16 and 9/17, for Community-Based Non-Profits and Tribal Entities, respectively.
