Double signing is a type of staking validator misbehavior that disrupts blockchain consensus and weakens protocol security. Double signing happens when a validator submits two conflicting blocks or attestations at the same block height or epoch. This breach of protocol rules leads to significant penalties for the validator. Coinbase validators have never double signed or been slashed. We use proprietary software, DynamoDB (for Ethereum), and rigorous testnets. We’re happy to announce that our Staking API now includes rewards reporting and onchain billing for ETH staking! Custodians, wallet providers, and other integrators can now seamlessly track ETH staking performance via a personalized interactive dashboard inside the CDP portal. Integrators can also download detailed earnings reports showing positions, itemized validators, individual earned rewards, and commission fees to better understand performance. With onchain billing, integrators and their users now receive net rewards entirely onchain. This streamlines reward fee collection and revenue share payouts by avoiding cumbersome manual commission fee invoicing and complicated ledgering. For the first time ever, Staking Rewards users can natively stake any amount of ETH directly with Coinbase-operated validators, right from the Staking Rewards app. This integration eliminates the previous need to meet a 32 ETH threshold in order to stake and allows Staking Rewards users to benefit from Coinbase’s trusted staking services right from their Staking Rewards app. Rewards are auto-compounded by default and users maintain control of funds at all times. As always, we are proud to increase accessibility to staking and bring even more users into the ecosystem to secure the Ethereum network.
