December is a time for reflection and optimism. On #CurriculumHQ, our updated 50-State Action Map highlights a critical area of growth for 2025: curriculum data. Leaders need to know what materials are in use across districts. States, like Massachusetts, are stepping up by providing user-friendly tools that make curriculum data accessible and actionable. With better transparency, district leaders can connect to peers using the same materials to share advice, and state agencies can identify trends to provide targeted supports. Most states have released their 2024 assessment results, and the story is far from simple. While math proficiency is slowly inching upward, ELA scores remain stagnant. Key findings include: - Incremental progress in elementary math, with some states seeing slight gains in ELA. - Stark differences in recovery rates across states, grade levels, and subjects. - Worrying trends in high school math performance, with NYC experiencing a 9-point drop in proficiency. The latest update from #AssessmentHQ is now live, featuring four years of post-pandemic state testing data from 41 states and D.C.. With this release, #AssessmentHQ remains the go-to source for a clear and comprehensive snapshot of statewide testing data. Some key takeaways: - Modest gains, but performance remains far below pre-pandemic levels. - 10 states are still out of compliance with ESSA reporting requirements. - Bright spots: Alaska and Vermont significantly improved their timelines for releasing data.
