Most states have released their 2024 assessment results, and the story is far from simple. While math proficiency is slowly inching upward, ELA scores remain stagnant. Key findings include: - Incremental progress in elementary math, with some states seeing slight gains in ELA. - Stark differences in recovery rates across states, grade levels, and subjects. - Worrying trends in high school math performance, with NYC experiencing a 9-point drop in proficiency. These results underscore the challenges of pandemic recovery and the work still ahead for schools and districts. Read the full analysis from Dale Chu on #AssessmentHQ: https://lnkd.in/ePXmht6x

Only 1 in 4 eighth graders in the U.S. are scoring at or above proficient — a noticeable decline from pre-pandemic figures. It’s critical that we continue working to ensure all kids have the opportunity to develop the high-level math, reading and digital problem-solving skills necessary to succeed in the workforce. This new report by Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University and The Educational Opportunity Project (EOP) at Stanford University reveals data showing that elementary and middle school students recovered about one-third of the original loss in math and one-quarter of the loss in reading. While these gains are historic, the researchers found that students are still not where they should be. Learn what steps researchers recommend schools take, including informing parents if their child is below grade level in math or reading. #LiteracyGains #K12Education

Business Leaders for Michigan must acknowledge that the business community is partially responsible for the state of education today. The first part of problem solving is problem identification. They have backed policy and tax cuts that take money away from local public schools and have not pushed research and data driven reforms to promote accountability, decision making alignment and necessary governance changes. They have backed Legislative leaders who have pushed ideological, not fact-based policies that are harmful to public education along with State budgets that have underfunded public K-12 and higher education going back years, if not decades. https://lnkd.in/geJp4Xhd

Only about one in three CPS students reads at grade level, less than one in five is at grade level in math, and over 40% were chronically absent last year —including more than half of high schoolers, all according to Illinois Report Card data for 2024 . Students feel more disconnected from teachers and peers than before the pandemic.

When it comes to math achievement, the conditions that often exist in the highest-performing math schools and districts in the state don't often exist in the Inland Empire--or don't exist in large enough quantities to make a difference. Our proprietary research shows that these conditions have little to do with family income, parent education or many of the other conditions people think of when it comes to math achievement. As an Inland Empire-based company, we're committed to the success of Inland Empire schools, districts and students, especially first gen and other marginalized student groups. We hope you can join us July 24 or August 1, 10-11 a.m. or 3-4 p.m., to learn about our research and how you can use it to improve math achievement at your school.
