Presented and approved earlier this month at the Board of Governors meeting, Colorado State University Pueblo will launch an ambitious new recruitment initiative: the Regional In-State Equivalent (RISE) rate. In an effort to continue the university’s commitment to accessibility and affordability, RISE will offer new students from bordering states, California, Nevada, Texas, and five additional countries tuition at the same rate as in-state students beginning in Fall 2025.

The COLORADO FUTURES CENTER AT CSU released its final ColoradoCast of 2024 this week, indicating a return to the state’s historical trend growth rates of close to 4%. “This update shows the state economy continuing to build upon the strength emerging with the third quarter forecast, and represents the strongest performance of the model, both with respect to forecasting accuracy and sustained economic performance since the early ColoradoCast releases in the immediate post-pandemic quarters,” - Phyllis Resnick, executive director and lead economist for the Colorado Futures Center. CSU is leading Colorado in affordable excellence. Earlier this week, Colorado State University was recognized in the 2024-25 'Top Colleges for Affordability' ranking by Scholarships360. As the only Colorado institution to make the list, the ranking highlights schools based on net price and average student debt, excluding those with graduation rates below the national average. Out of more than 1,800 eligible colleges, only the top 8% earned this distinction.

Front Range Community College ➡️ Colorado State University CSU and Front Range Community College have launched a new dual enrollment partnership program called The Ram Transfer Academy aimed at helping students with fewer financial resources complete their bachelor's degrees. This cutting-edge program will help FRCC students prepare for a smooth transfer to CSU, working to break down barriers to higher education. Students enrolled in the academy will have immediate access to student services at both CSU and FRCC, and a direct path to a bachelor’s degree through transferability between the schools.

Garrison Ortiz vividly recalls conversations he had with his grandmother while growing up in a single-parent home in Pueblo. “From the time I was very young my grandmother would tell me that if I wanted a different hand than the one I was dealt, the key was education,” he said. “I very much took that to heart, and my mother worked extra jobs so I could get the best possible education.” Ortiz, chief financial officer at Colorado State University Pueblo, took full advantage of his educational opportunities. He graduated from high school with an associate’s degree from Pueblo Community College, and he graduated from CSU Pueblo at age 21 with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
