⚡ Exploring Energy in NYC: A Visit to the East River Generating Station ⚡ Yesterday, Columbia Energy Association organized its first power plant visit of the year! 15 students had the incredible opportunity to tour Con Edison’s East River Generating Station—a cornerstone of New York City’s energy infrastructure! This 660-megawatt facility has a fascinating history, transitioning from a coal plant in 1926 to its current dual-fuel system, while also powering the city’s vast commercial steam system—the largest in the US. Thank you to the Con Edison team for making this enriching experience possible. It was a fantastic opportunity to bridge classroom learning with real-world energy solutions. Special thanks to Stella Mimidas, Maura Yates, Marie Trimboli, Connor Haran, Jordan Ruggieri for their support and time! -- Columbia University Columbia | SIPA Jin Park Yujie SI Siyun Lee Riya Yingran G.
