About us
The Commission on Public Relations Education is the authoritative voice on public relations education. CPRE is made up of 21 national and international associations, representing both practitioners and educators, seeking to advance the academic preparation of future Communications and Public Relations professionals. The Commission conducts research to assess societal and industry trends, desired workplace skills, and classroom best practices to guide educators, their administrators, and their institutions. Since its founding in 1973, the Commission has been instrumental in not only guiding and shaping more than 100 accredited academic programs in the U.S. and abroad but in establishing the criteria used by accrediting bodies like the Association of Educators of Journalism and Mass Communications and The Public Relations Society of America.

Congratulations to Jeff Wilson, APR at Padilla, for being a Top 5 GEMS Honoree! Learn about the passions and purpose of our Top 5 GEMS in interviews conducted by Jenny H. How do you self-define, and what aspects of your (cultural) identity are most significant to you? -"As an African-American male. Another aspect of my identity is that I grew up in rural South Carolina. In many ways, this has had a big impact on my career, outlook, and perspective on life. The reason I say that particularly, being an African-American male in communication, specifically PR, when I first started in the business 30+ years ago, very often I would go to networking events, and I would be the only African-American male there. That really started to cement for me why representation and identity were really important. At the time, I didn't think it was a fully formulated idea or concept, but even then, I said, “You know what? There should be more of us in the room having these conversations and being represented.” Click here to read Jeff's full story: https://lnkd.in/dSTwKy4G
