TIME WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2022 - Healthy mothers & babies are my business, every day! A British-trained midwife & women’s health advocate. Proud owner of the MEAC accredited Commonsense Childbirth School of Midwifery.
https://lnkd.in/eeSYAfm3 🙏🏾Honored to be mentioned in this article by the Commonwealth Fund "Many of the developers are building on the work of Jennie Joseph, LM, CPM, a British-trained midwife who set out two decades ago to establish a more humane system of care for people who struggled to find providers willing to accept Medicaid or treat the uninsured."

Thanks Nonprofit Quarterly - Tonie Marie Gordon, PhD! Moving from Crisis to Healing in Maternal Health: A Conversation with Jennie Joseph "TMG: As you so eloquently said, there is a lot of misplaced blame on the social determinants of health and on economic circumstances. But we already know that there’s something much deeper going on in terms of systemic racism. So, for Black women especially who are embarking upon pregnancy and birth, or in postpartum, how can they advocate for themselves? What are people empowered to do in this moment? JJ: That is a question I’m asked often. Firstly, I would like to preface my answer with the understanding that we shouldn’t have to save our own lives. Yet here we are. And I think that’s important because there is this tendency to blame something else, which typically means blaming the mother." Read more here......

Thank you Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and People's Television for taking the time and for caring enough to tell our stories so beautifully! The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate of any high-income country–and the crisis disproportionately affects women of color. Share these videos and help us raise awareness for two proven solutions to address the maternal health crisis: #doula support and #midwives. https://lnkd.in/ept8spGn (Full video Commonsense Childbirth Inc.) https://lnkd.in/eWg8MH3y (Full video ANCIENT SONG DOULA SERVICES) ❤️ Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eAFyP7Bg

Although Black Maternal Health Week 2024 (#BMHW24) is over for this year, for those of us on the front lines, BMHW is every week in the USA! Please continue to support us by watching and sharing these new documentaries on Chanel Porchia-Albert (ANCIENT SONG DOULA SERVICES) and Jennie Joseph (Commonsense Childbirth Inc.'s) impactful work in birth justice. This campaign aims to raise awareness and advocate for equitable healthcare solutions to the Black Maternal Health Crisis. https://lnkd.in/ew982c97

What a treat! I am here to say “NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!” #Orlando #CentralFlorida we are so blessed to have the new #OCOM Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine right in our midst. Dean Zulgeil E. Ruiz Ginés , LM , CPM and myself were treated to a tour of the beautiful facility recently which will house an amazing team of doctors who have literally put together a community within a community! The heart, passion and care that is palpable throughout the building and within the team is so exciting to witness - we are thrilled for the future doctors, the collaborations, and the promise of equitable health for our communities. Yes!!!’
