We want to congratulate Conti Ventures’ portfolio companies Brightseed, Pivot Bio, and Prolific Machines for developing platforms that were named to TIME’s list of the 200 Best Inventions of 2024. These three companies are aiming to revolutionize our food supply chains, from farm to table. Time released the awards on October 30th, 2024, based on entries for new inventions submitted over the past year. Each company paid an application fee to be eligible for this list. - Brightseed is seeking to change what we eat by identifying naturally occurring molecules with potential health benefits. - Pivot Bio’s objective is to change how we grow our food through the development of microbes that “fix” nitrogen in corn and wheat, decreasing the need for carbon-intensive nitrogen fertilizers. - Prolific Machines is aiming to transform how our food is made by harnessing light and bioengineering to control cell functions. At Continental Grain Company, we’re focused on helping to build the companies that will change the way we feed the world. Congratulations to the entire Agile Cold Storage team on achieving this milestone.
We are excited to announce the grand opening of Agile Cold Storage's newest facility in Claymont, Delaware! This state-of-the-art, 275,000-square-foot cold-storage warehouse is poised to transform the region, bringing 130 new jobs and strengthening supply chain infrastructure for food manufacturers, processors, and growers across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Located at the historic First State Crossing site, this facility represents a $170 million investment and will support modern, energy-efficient cold storage with the latest in automation and multi-temperature storage capabilities. This week, we tragically lost a beloved member of the Conti family, David Dryerman, along with his wife Michelle and daughter Brooke. Words cannot fully express the profound grief we all feel at this time, but we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible colleague and friend David was to each of us. David dedicated 10 years to Conti, starting with the Arlon team in 2014. His impressive career included leadership roles at EisnerAmper Fund Services and State Street Private Equity Fund Administration, among others. David's expertise and professionalism made a lasting impact in our industry, and he will be remembered as a true leader. Beyond his professional life, David was a genuinely kind and approachable person. Many of his team members remember their trips to China, where he bravely tackled the local cuisine, even when the food options left everyone raising their eyebrows in disbelief! Sharing laughs over the lazy Susan at lunch and being thankful when he could finally have a pizza, David was someone who made every situation lighter and more enjoyable. Members of the Continental Grain team provided many fond memories of David: “David cared deeply about his work and his team, often making sure they were taking the time off they needed and always being mindful of creating a strong culture. He truly embodied the Conti Way.” “David’s kindness was evident in everything he did. When a summer intern on the tax team needed a temporary workspace, he immediately offered his office, even presenting a detailed Excel spreadsheet for her seating arrangement before we could finalize anything. That was David—a humble, genuine soul who cared deeply about those around him.” “It feels surreal to know that David is no longer with us. His warm smile, generous spirit, and great sense of humor will be deeply missed. As we reflect on his life, let’s cherish the memories and the joy he brought to our team. He was a true mensch.” Our thoughts and prayers are with David’s family, especially his surviving son Max, during this difficult time. Rest in peace, David. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will always be a member of the Conti Family.

Last week we held our annual Service Awards Luncheon where we celebrated big milestones for employees at Conti. Talent has always been at the core of Conti’s culture, going back to our roots as grain traders where the people were essential to success. We still maintain this sentiment today and as a result are a people first organization, where the core principles of the Conti Way guide how we work. We honored the below people last week. Max Astruc: 5 Years Michael Fribourg: 5 Years Bob Golden: 5 Years Ignacio Sanz: 5 Years Fritz Von Guionneau: 5 Years David Dryerman: 10 years Ryan Oksenhendler: 10 Years Karen Miller: 35 Years Special shout out to Jeannette Ortiz who celebrated her 40th year at Conti and Karen Miller who celebrated 35 years with the company. During a recent visit to Beijing, our CEO @Paul Fribourg met with the ContiFeed leadership team, highlighting our longstanding commitment to serving the needs of Chinese livestock and poultry producers. The visit also served as an opportunity to recognize team members, some of whom have supported Conti’s China operations for decades, for their service to ContiFeed and Conti Asia. Additionally, Paul had the pleasure of sitting down with US Ambassador to China, Nicholas Burns, to discuss the many opportunities for productive US-China cooperation. In line with Conti’s purpose of bringing people, ideas and resources together to build businesses that will feed the world, we look forward to continuing to engage with Chinese farmers and businesses to address critical food and agriculture challenges. #agriculture #feedingtheworld #teamrecognition
