It’s not just about the turkey! On October 3, 1789, President George Washington made this proclamation which created the first Thanksgiving Day in the United States. “Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor, and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God…." Monday Matters This morning I was ready to send the following text to my family, “Have a great day!” As I thought about it more, I decided to change it to, “Make it a great day!” According to Google AI Overview, “have a great day” is a passive wish for someone to experience a good day, while “make it a great day” implies taking active steps to ensure your day is positive, suggesting that you have the power to shape your own experience and make it great. So how can we make everyday a great day? What are some active steps we can take? Where can we start?
