About us
The CONVEY project aims to establish an integrated hydrogen ecosystem at the Port of Hirtshals in Denmark. The project will utilize renewable energy from local wind turbines to produce green hydrogen to help decarbonize the operations in the port. The project includes the construction of a 5 MW electrolyzer, a large-scale refueling station for heavy-duty transport, and distribution networks for hydrogen, oxygen & heat - and through this build a model for green ports. CONVEY is led by a consortium of ten partners: Norwegian Hydrogen, Port of Hirtshals, Greenport North, Hirtshals Transport Center, Vireon, biomega, Onnest, Vendelbo Spedition, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Next Consult and Hydrogen Valley. The project is supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and its members and is co-funded by the European Union. CONVEY was yesterday given spotlight in a conference zooming into PtX opportunities for maritime sectors. The event was hosted by Port of Aalborg, Brintbranchen and Blue World Technologies, and CONVEY presenter was Hanne Skovby Overgaard Development and Project Executive from Greenport North. Greenport North is one of the key partners in CONVEY working to further green transition within the areas of energy, transport and industry at Port of Hirtshals - Hirtshals Havn. Their aim is to optimise the framework conditions and value propositions in the port through new green energy solutions, sector coupling and circular economy. CONVEY is co-funded by EU's Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Horizon Europe.

As hubs, ports handle not only logistics and transportations but often also attract industrial clusters where companies are close to one another. This proximity creates opportunities for synergies and sector coupling in interconnected energy systems. Port of Hirtshals - Hirtshals Havn is among Europe’s first ports to offer circular green hydrogen systems with a potential to be replicated wholly or partially in up to 155 other European ports. CONVEY is co-funded by EU's Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Horizon Europe.
En del af vores opgave ved Hydrogen Valley i projektet CONVEY er, at skabe et overblik over hvilke havne i EU, der er naturlige sites for fremtidige Hydrogenhubs. For at skabe dette overblik kræver det kontakt og dialog med havnene, og i dag ledte turen til havnen i Rotterdam. Her arbejdes der hver dag med decarbonisering af havnens områder, og ikke kun som strategier og planer men med faktiske handlinger. Igennem havnens 40 km, føres der foreksempel en hydrogen backbone, som skal forbinde fremtidens grønne hydrogenproducenter med havnens forbrugere. Denne skal bidrage til at hydrogen bliver så tilgængeligt som naturgas og distribueres så billigt som muligt. Det, og mange andre tiltag skal sikre nul-emission af havnen og hydrogen til dens brugere. En havn til inspiration og læring!

One week ago, we celebrated the launch of our new facility at the stunning Hellesylt, near the UNESCO World Heritage site Geirangerfjord. The facility will produce nearly 500 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, enabling emission reductions for our customers across multiple sectors. 🌿 The day was truly unforgettable, with perfect weather, a scenic fjord cruise, and inspiring speeches.
