Join Coral Gables-based arts organizations, business, and civic leaders in an open conversation to build upon last year's successes. Date: Tuesday, January, 21, 2025 Time: 8:30am Location: Sanctuary of the Arts, 410 Andalusia Avenue The goal of State of the Arts is to further elevate the cultural profile of Coral Gables, and encourage innovations in public-private partnerships aimed at increasing consumer and audience engagement. Our Professional Advisors Council is comprised of individuals who represent the very best in their fields – accounting, wills and trusts and wealth management. Professional advisors know their clients; the Coral Gables Community Foundation knows philanthropy. Through our Financial Partner Program, the professional advisors maintain the investment management of assets when their client establishes a charitable fund with the Foundation with a minimum balance of $250K. This program allows the clients of our Professional Advisors to create a charitable fund, maximize their potential tax deduction and benefit from our white glove administrative and grantmaking services, while keeping the investment under their management. December is the most popular month for opening Donor Advised Funds (DAF), and it’s easy to see why when considering the advantages of a DAF over a Private Foundation. Here are some key benefits: 1. **No Annual Minimum Distribution Requirement**: Unlike private foundations, which are required to distribute at least 5% of their assets each year per IRS rules, Donor Advised Funds don’t have this mandatory payout. This allows for more flexibility in how you manage your charitable giving. 2. **Tax Advantages**: You can donate cash and appreciated securities to a DAF and avoid paying capital gains on the donation, which maximizes the value of your contribution. 3. **Flexibility in Contributions and Distributions**: With a DAF, you can contribute funds on your timeline and take your time deciding which causes and charities to support, providing you with greater involvement in your giving strategy. The Coral Gables Community Foundation is celebrating 33 years of inspiring impactful philanthropy through charitable funds and programs, and this year alone we've had a record investment of nearly $4 million dollars back into the community! We've done this through investing in College Scholarships for local students and Grants to nonprofits serving our community. We are so proud of this work, and it is possible because of the generosity of our donors and Donor Advised Fundholders who are on this journey with us. In 2024, we also completed a Community Needs Assessment. This was a months-long process of Focus Groups and Surveys, listening to our residents and our donors about what issues matter most to them. We will use this data to determine what we invest in in 2025 and beyond. This work can only be possible through the collective impact of our donors and our fundholders.
