Due to the recent suspension of U.S. foreign assistance, access to clean water for millions globally will be affected. Many of you have reached out to ask if Cova's work is affected, and we appreciate the solidarity. As an organization committed to safe water in Central America, the funding suspension means the loss of crucial funding for key programs in Honduras such as the expansion of our model into 300 new communities, a watershed restoration program, and a trial to investigate the potential to scale the Circuit Rider Model at a global level. Historically, Cova has had minimal US Government funding; however the loss of funding for these programs undoubtedly disrupts our ability to deliver immediate support to those who rely on us. Nevertheless, we remain resilient and optimistic. We know that the strength of our community is in its adaptability and determination. We are committed to continuing our work. This pause, while difficult, is a time for collaboration, for forging new partnerships and sustainable funding sources, and for ensuring that our impact remains far-reaching. Your ongoing support means the world to us as we confront this challenge and turn it into a chance for growth and new possibilities.

Access to safe water and sanitation prevents waterborne diseases and reduces the spread of illness, allowing children to be healthier. And when children are healthy, they have more time and energy to learn and perform better in school. On this #InternationalDayofEducation, we recognize that access to safe water opens doors for students in the classroom and beyond and are proud to collaborate with over 50 schools to make it so! #safewaterforstudents

As the year comes to a close, many of us gather with loved ones, making meals and making memories. The same is true for families in Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador, but too many are still doing so without the benefit of safe water. We are grateful for all those who are collaborating with us to ensure the sustainability of our safe water initiatives. Health Promoters like Romelia have taken on the role of water quality monitoring — completing regular field tests, and reporting results to ensure that safe, treated water continues to flow into homes. (See link to Romelia's story below!) Romelia is also a successful small farmer, and she shared how she has seen firsthand how providing and ensuring safe water is like planting seeds in fertile soil—it sets the foundation for growth, resilience, and flourishing futures. Individuals and communities rely on safe water to unlock their potential, to help dreams take root. Thank you for sharing safe water this season.

The Giving Tuesday movement has always been about radical generosity — the idea that the suffering of others should be as intolerable to us as our own. It is about showing up, stepping up, to build a world where generosity is part of everyday life. Unsafe water can overshadow even the happiest of seasons, bringing the threat of illness and hardship into homes. Your gift doesn’t just provide a basic necessity—it becomes the foundation for families to flourish and a cornerstone for fostering pride. This Giving Tuesday, you can be proud that your support of safe water means making futures bright! www.covaagua.org/donate

Water testing is at the core of our model. We provide local testing of community drinking water to detect contaminants in the water supply and identify appropriate solutions to make the water safe to drink. This means more safe water more of the time. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gtt98X25
