𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 Winthrop Rockefeller Conference Center and Lodge The facility was established by the late Arkansas Governor Winthrop Rockefeller in 1953 as a home and working farm after his move to Arkansas from New York. Donated to the state in 2005, the converted Winthrop Rockefeller Institute now includes conference space, dining, culinary institute, lecture space, interpretive gallery, offices, and reception areas – in existing buildings; and a new lodge and sustainable barn. Through this sensitive intervention, the spirit of the farm is retained, while offering visitors a world-class experience and a sense of history of the place. Thompson, is a remarkable showcase of his extraordinary talent and vision. Built in 1900, the home is a testament to timeless design, featuring: • Elegant Doric columns and a slate roof • A magnificent Honduran mahogany staircase and intricate craftsmanship throughout • A unique sunroom and an elevator serving all four levels The home’s rich history includes interiors crafted by Tiffany’s of New York and gatherings of over 500 guests. It even boasts a band stage area on the second floor! Charles L. The project features a new entrance bridge, sidewalks, freshly planted trees, and the return of basketball courts with updated lighting and seating—bringing back a cherished part of the community. Our own Chris East shared, “This project is a successful example of working with the Arkansas Department of Transportation to adapt unused spaces and create places for people to exercise, play, and commune.
