The good news is that suicidal crises are often brief, which means that putting time and space between a person and a lethal method, such as a firearm, can be lifesaving. The University of Colorado Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative has created several resources to help people learn about options and resources for secure firearm storage, which can help avert firearm suicides as well as prevent firearm misuse and theft.
