So grateful to the entire sports community in DFW for letting us do what we do. For those who don't know, my team ran a year-long campaign celebrating the Dallas Sports Commission's 10th Anniversary. Called "A Decade Well Played," the campaign culminated in a celebration with our clients, partners, stakeholders, and regional family on Tuesday night. It was a truly special evening spending time with those who made the Dallas sports scene the mammoth it is today. Thank you to everyone who contributed quotes, interviews, and their stories for this effort. It's been an honor getting a front-row seat as we dove into the rich history of Dallas sports. Now that A Decade Well Played is rapidly coming to a close, I'd like to thank Ben Harbuck, Cesar Jaramillo, Nancy Rodriguez, and the entire DSC team for their hard work and dedication. This was a collaboration, and every person on our staff was essential in making it happen. Special shoutouts also go to Allan Thompson for shooting, producing, and editing the documentary short, and Jillian Montemayor for helping us lay the groundwork for everything during her 2024 summer internship. It's a little strange seeing 10 years cut down to 10 minutes, but I'd encourage those interested in what we do at the DSC to watch the documentary short linked below. Here's to A Decade Well Played!

These questions and more will be answered by the editors of D CEO—named the best regional business magazine in the United States for the last four consecutive years—and StrongSide, D Magazine’s award-winning sports platform—in special edition that will make its debut in February. “Sports creates a halo effect that spurs commercial development,” City of Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said. “Its not just a major economic engine from a tourism and sales tax perspective, but it helps stand up billions of dollars worth of development.” Called The City of Champions, the new publication will include in-depth features on the hottest trends and topics in DFW sports, profiles of under-the-radar front office executives and sports industry leaders, data analytics, and much more. “I’m excited about the growth of the region and the transformation that I’ve seen over the last ten years,” said Monica Paul, the Dallas Sports Commission’s executive director. “Layer in the development plans for the next decade and I don’t think there is another region in the United States that will be able to compete with Dallas as a place to live or conduct sports business.” Guided by a thread of economic impact, content will be built around the region’s major professional sports teams (from the Dallas Cowboys to the Dallas Wings), game-changers (like the FIFA Word Cup and PGA of America Championships), intriguing personalities (names you know or should know), emerging trends (media rights, private equity in sports), and leagues, conferences, and venues. “As a one-month Dallas resident, it has been incredible to see just how vital sports business is to the DFW area,” Dude Perfect CEO Andrew Yaffe said. “I mean in the next two years alone almost every major athlete on the planet will land at DFW, wether thats National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), soccer, cricket, or other sports.”
