We’re thrilled to share some wonderful highlights from our recent Holiday Market! Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, the collaboration of 16 community partners, and the support of everyone who helped spread the word, we were able to serve over 391 individuals this season. Among the many success stories, a family won a PS5 and a 40-inch smart TV from our raffle, and more than 110 families participated—making it a truly joyful and memorable event. We are especially grateful to our Courage to Call and Mental Health Systems teams who came together to ensure that every family felt welcomed and supported. This is what community is all about: coming together, sharing resources, and making the holidays brighter for those who serve. A Story of Hope and Healing: Giving Tuesdays with Dancing Veterans San Diego Imagine a Navy veteran named Lisa. After serving her country for 12 years, she returned home carrying invisible wounds—PTSD and anxiety that left her feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Lisa longed for connection and a way to cope with the challenges she faced daily. One day, she stumbled upon Dancing Veterans San Diego and decided to take a chance on something new. From the moment Lisa stepped into her first class, she found more than just a dance floor. She discovered a community—a family. The rhythm of salsa and bachata became her sanctuary, a space where she could express herself without words. Through the beats of the music, Lisa felt the weight of her struggles lift. She connected with others who understood her journey and found joy and purpose again. Lisa’s story is one of many. Since Dancing Veterans San Diego was founded in 2021, we’ve been creating a bridge between the military and San Diego communities, using the transformative power of dance to support veterans, service members, and their families. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we provide a safe, welcoming environment where individuals like Lisa can heal, connect, and thrive.
