The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has implemented updates to its Groundwater Quality Standards (GWQS), which are expected to impact current remediation projects and sites with finalized remediation documents. The NJDEP has provided a six-month transition period to allow sites to demonstrate compliance using the prior standards, provided that the remedial action plan or report is timely submitted, approved or certified, aligns with the updated standards within an acceptable range, and meets regulatory deadlines.
