Partner Jeffrey Babbin assisted the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA) with an amicus brief in regards to L.L. v. Newell Brands, Inc., which questioned whether Connecticut law recognized a parent’s claim for loss of filial consortium of a minor child who was severely injured as a result of a defendant’s allegedly tortious conduct. The Connecticut Supreme Court just recently held that Connecticut law doesn’t recognize a cause of action for loss of filial consortium, consistent with the position taken by the CDLA in its amicus brief. As chair of CDLA’s Amicus Committee, Jeff played a key role in organizing the amicus brief effort, overseeing the development of the arguments, and reviewing drafts of the brief.
