With AI being such fascinating topic, I decided to see if I could build something of my own as a way of learning. Getting your head around the language is the first step, so this article and my comments will help. In the end it is about the value AI can bring, how it can make things better, quicker and in the end cheaper. If you look at the recent noise around Adobe's new licensing agreement, users are seeing the other edge of the sword. For a while they (and I as a user myself) benefited for the generative capabilities within Photoshop, now Adobe want (need) access all our cloud data to make this software better and to build products.
I have been spending some time recently getting my head around the topic of LLMs, running a local Llama3 (8B) model and working on customising it. There is such an arms race at the moment with LLMs, so understanding the difference between Parameters and tokens is useful. It certainly helps better visualise how the change from 175 Billion parameters in GPT-3 to the (estimated) trillion in GPT-4 is a leap.
