𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫! A year ago, I was on that stage accepting the Hedy Lamarr Award. Yesterday, I had the honor of handing it to Caroline Chan of Intel. Progress and change are rarely solo acts. They’re relay races. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬: ✓ One person opens a door. ✓ Another walks through it. ✓ Then they turn back around to open even more doors for others. Hedy Lamarr could have easily stayed in the glitzy Hollywood spotlight. But no, she went ahead and invented the tech that still connects us today (Bluetooth!). Leaders like Caroline are taking that vision a step further. With her groundbreaking work in 5G, she is connecting the world in ways we once only imagined. I know firsthand that leadership comes with its share of doubts and naysayers. Hedy must have been told countless times to “Stick to acting. Stay in your lane!” I’m pretty sure Caroline has heard her own version of that too. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠: You don’t listen to them. You go ahead and do it anyway. That’s the blueprint. That’s how progress happens. Because real leadership isn’t just about carving a path for yourself. It’s about making sure others can follow it and then carve their own. Thank you, Caroline, for showing us all what that looks like! Thankyou to DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group for consistently supporting this yearly awards, not just to leaders but to emerging talent as well, this years Achievement Award recipients were Hope Bryant and Emelia Piane. And of course to Google, whose mission is to organize the world’s information and make it accessible and useful AND to connect the people enabling them to do bigger and bolder things responsibly and together. #leadership #innovation #technology #motivation #growth #networking #information

Join The Ed Asner Family Center for our annual celebrity performance of "It's a Wonderful Life" on December 14 - this year with a live audience at the Garry Marshall Theater in Burbank in addition to the livestream. And we've leveled up this year's show with the entire cast of "SpongeBob Squarepants", Mark Hamill, Joey King, Ron Funches, host Tom Bergeron, AND the talents of a live onstage Foley artist and a musician - just like a real old-timey radio drama! In-person VIP tickets which include the after-show cast reception and livestream passes are now on sale to support what's going to be an awesome event for a great organization supporting kids and families with autism. www.teafc.org/events
