A great day for STEM!
What an amazingly STEMulating way to spend a day out of school! 🩺🧬🤖 The Dennis Project, Inc. had the pleasure of facilitating our engineering innovators lab with the teens in Miami Dade College Wolfon Campus' Trio Upward Bound Program. 38 wonderful high schoolers engineered their rubber band racers, then tested their design with a quick competition! Thank you MDC staff for partnering with us to make much-needed STEM workshops available. Shout-out to the wonderful TDP supporters that stopped by to say hi 👋🏾 😊 TeacherGeek #STEMulatingMinds #TDP #MDC #changinglives #STEM

Happy Birthday to The Dennis Project, Inc. 13 years ago today we were established! 🎉🎂🥳🎁 Flashback: In 2012, this was one of the very first Girls In Engineering programs the @dennisproject created/facilitated. Supported by Girls RISEnet, I wrote my first grant (no, it was not good grant writing, lol). Because the women at the Miami Science Museum believed in our mission, they helped me improve my grant writing skills, and we obtained 2 additional grants to further our efforts to inspire minority girls. It's been 13 years strong! NOTE: This is an old 2012 flyer, there's no registration 😂😂 #forevergrateful #STEMulatingMinds #TDP #FlashbackFriday

We are grateful!
Long Post of REFLECTION: Last year The Dennis Project, Inc. worked with two amazing consultants to map out a 3-year strategic plan for operations with Monique Salomon of Alma Operations and Financial Planning with Oyinka M. Coakley, CPA, CMA of @Oyinka:The Entrepreneur’s Professor. A few of our executive & operational goals were to: (1) evaluate my own role as ED and implement a plan to incorporate team members (volunteers & staff) that share my vision for TDP, then delegate tasks to ensure sustainability and avoid burnout (2) re-design our programs to ensure we're making a transformative impact and less of a "one and done" impact - We want youth to not only be excited about STEM, but become actual game changers in STEM. Our Financial Goals were to (1) streamline our efforts and focus on areas / projects that simply make sense financially and provide quality services and pricing that match that quality. (2) I can still hear my consultant friend Oyinka say ... YOU MUST PAY YOURSELF. I'm happy to report some of the results of this reconstruction: In 2024 FY, we have hit every target and our operations and financial strategic plans are on track for 2025 FY. We've revamped programs, created STEM series, and increased them by over 60%. We've added 6 new volunteers and one paid intern. We've increased funding and fundraising by 50% and yes, I am fulltime at TDP - we did it! Words cannot express my gratitude to Children's Services Council of Broward County for providing an opportunity to evaluate our potential and grow through the prev. Capacity Building Grant. 1000 x's thanks to The Miami Foundation and Radical Partners for on-going operations and leadership training, motivation and recommending an amazing Consultant Monique Salomon And, the amazing Oyinka M. Coakley, CPA, CMA for helping us visualize the financial big picture, getting us financially organized, and challenging me to always acknowledge my contribution's worth and that of TDP. I'm excited to see what 2025 brings with a second round of Capacity Building. #Priceless #lifechangingexperiences #letsgo

A time was had today!
What a wonderful way to return to "work" after some well deserved rest. The Dennis Project, Inc. enjoyed our last session with the girls at @aleapseducation. We ended the Techbridge Girls - Ignite Youth Inventors program reflecting on the inventors they've learned about over the last 8-sessions. Then, the girls worked with Chibitronics furthering their understanding of the engineering design process and circuitry by lighting up the antennas of their "I Love STEM" robot paper circuit activity. Lastly, the the young inventors took home special treats and swag from Techbridge Girls and TDP. 100 x's thanks to principal Shanika Wilchcombe-Lewis for inviting us in to facilitate this amazing curriculum. What an amazing school, staff, and scholars!!!
