Interdisciplinary engineering Ph.D. student Andrea Porter was invited to speak at the Louisiana State Police Women's annual conference in October. Andrea spoke about the importance of properly fitting female body armor for women in law enforcement and military roles. "It was an honor to present to these remarkable women dedicated to community safety. Body armor presents significant challenges due to discomfort, yet they wear it during every shift and activity. I hope my findings can drive progress toward improving their comfort, allowing them to focus on their critical roles without the distraction of musculoskeletal discomfort caused by their gear." Thank you to Mindi Keith for the invitation! Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering at Texas A&M University Texas A&M University Texas A&M University College of Engineering

Each year, summer temperatures occur earlier and last longer – a problem experienced across the globe ☀️ 🔥 Two researchers in the Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering at Texas A&M are working to reduce the carbon footprint is through green hydrogen, an energy carrier produced by renewable energy sources. Dr. Keshawa Shukla, professor of practice in subsea engineering, and doctoral interdisciplinary engineering student Vy Le, are designing an offshore hydrogen hub that can produce green hydrogen from the electrolysis of water, using the electricity obtained from an offshore wind substation. They co-authored their paper with Shashikant Sarada, vice-president of offshore wind engineering at WSP. Learn more: tx.ag/HydrogenHubs

Texas A&M University researchers are tracking campus “hot spots” which could help students stay cool in the Texas heat ☀️ 🔥 Dr. Xinyue Ye is a Harold L. Adams Endowed Professor of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning and a Multidisciplinary Engineering affiliated faculty member. Dr. Ye and his team have developed a cutting-edge tool to better protect our campus community. The study focuses on predicting and mitigating the impacts of outdoor heat stress using advanced digital models and deep learning techniques, marking a significant leap forward in public health preparedness.
