Mechanical Engineering is one of 15 departments in the College of Engineering (the biggest college on the Texas A&M campus). Through the curriculum, our department strives to prepare our undergraduate and graduate students for careers in traditional Mechanical Engineering fields as well as careers in cross-disciplined areas in research, academia and industry. We also pride ourselves on our research. Our faculty’s research expertise includes; Thermal and Fluid Sciences, Materials and Manufacturing, Mechanics and Systems and Controls. Dr. Yuxiao Zhou, mechanical engineering assistant professor and Dr. Jaesung Lee, assistant professor in the Wm Michael Barnes '64 Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University, have been awarded the 2024 Seed Program for AI, Computing, and Data Science award from the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science for their work advancing smart orthopedic surgery planning. Dr. Zhou and Dr. Lee are developing a hybrid biomechanical physics-informed machine learning model to improve dental implant surgery planning, optimizing bone healing and ensuring long-term implant success. Collaboration Between Two Campuses 👥 Dr. Debjyoti Banerjee, #tamuMEEN professor and James J. Cain '51 Faculty Fellow I recently hosted visitors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) at his lab here in the J. Mike Walker '66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University Dr. Shahin Shafiee, a mechanical engineering assistant professor at PVAMU, secured nearly $1.5 million in a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to advance research on nanofluid transport phenomena using machine learning. 🔬 Dr. Shafiee and his research students, The TESTING Group, visited The Multi-Phase & Heat Transfer Lab to meet with Dr. Banerjee's students, present ongoing research, and discuss potential areas of collaboration. #ResearchCollaboration #HeatTransfer #EnergyStorage
