In addition to the good news on the federal level that Congress passed the American Relief Act, temporarily extending Medicare add-on payments for ground ambulance services, there is more exciting reimbursement news on the state level out of #Michigan. Congratulations to those who put in the time and effort on getting this bill passed. 👏 Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs 👏 Michigan Municipal League
A year and a half of work to get HB 5695 passed in both chambers of the State Legislature on a bipartisan basis. The bill will make it possible for public emergency transport agencies across the state to receive increased reimbursement for transporting Medicaid patients, which is estimated to bring approximately $50 million a year to Michigan, including an estimated $20 million for the City of Detroit Fire Department. Congrats to the City of Sterling Heights for their leadership on this issue paying off. Special thanks to Herasanna Richards of the Michigan Municipal League, Judy Allen of the Michigan Townships Association and Nicole Horn in helping with communications and advocacy.
