Artificial Intelligence-enabled Diligence Evaluation - AIDE solicitation just posted! Currently, business intelligence assessments are labor-intensive and prone to inaccuracies from manual efforts in capturing and analyzing key data points. The use of generative artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs), offers potential for automating report generation, summarizing complex data, and creating consolidated dashboards for better decision-making. However, integrating this technology into existing program management workflows presents significant hurdles, including ensuring accurate data integration, connecting disparate proprietary and open-source data sources, and maintaining effective user engagement. Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) seeks solutions that leverage AI to streamline industrial foreign influence analysis, business intelligence, and due diligence by developing a platform and/or service that can efficiently process financial, business intelligence, and workflow data from multiple sources, providing detailed analysis, risk assessments, and summary reports which enhance the speed, quality, and effectiveness of due diligence processes. Details here: https://lnkd.in/eUpkJFH Solutions requested by 1/21/2025. #AI #LLMs

ICYMI, Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is collecting solution briefs for two active solicitations. The Family of Advanced Standard Batteries for Unmanned Systems - (FASTBAT-U) project seeks fully commercialized, rechargeable #battery cells that meet the performance needs of small unmanned aerial systems (#sUAS) to include Group 1 and 2, with diverse mission requirements. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eVTQXXDN Our Finance First 2.0 solicitation is a process improvement initiative. Today, designing, constructing, and deploying resilient energy solutions, whether power generation, distribution, and/or storage, takes 5 to 10 years, versus best-in-class commercial projects that take only 2 to 3 years. The #DoD is seeking solutions that not only meet target installations' resilience needs but also align with our financial and operational goals. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eqWwrmTB Both opportunities close on January 9, 2025 at 11:59:59 Eastern time.

Earlier this month, members of the Council on Foreign Relations visited Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) headquarters for an event complementing their National Symposium. The visit provided CFR members an intimate look into the success and challenges of how commercial technology scales and integrates across the DoD for real-world strategic effect, and insights into the policy implications of commercial technology addressing defense needs. Representatives from ANELLO Photonics, Rhombus Power Inc. and Parallel Flight Technologies were on-site for presentations and to walk through and provide insight into the process of working with the DoD. In addition, DIU Deputy Director Aditi Kumar also participated in a panel at CFR’s National Symposium, on U.S.-China Relations: National Security and the Race to Innovate.

Recognizing the need to connect talent across the #DoD at speed and scale, the DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office has provided more than $5 million in funding to further develop GigEagle's AI-powered Joint digital talent marketplace. Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) launched GigEagle in April 2024 as a real-time talent matching platform. Today it has more than 4,500 users and is the Department’s first agile talent platform to leverage machine learning to rapidly connect skilled personnel with mission-critical roles. “Talent is a critical differentiator for the U.S. and harnessing this entrepreneurial spirit, and the dual-fluency of those who have operational military experience combined with experience from the commercial technology sector, are key resources that the DoD needs to tap into,” said Doug Beck, director of DIU. Just posted: Cooperative Agreement (Grant) for our OnRamps! Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is building a unified physical Defense Innovation OnRamp, which will include Flagship DIU offices, physical presence via a distributed team, physical and digital OnRamp Hubs, and other relationships with the academic, startup, and commercial sectors to enable non-traditional, dual-use, and/or commercial technology companies to work with the United States Department of Defense to rapidly support warfighter needs. DIU’s OnRamp efforts are part of DIU’s strategy to develop a robust regional presence in order to tap into the extant commercial technology ecosystems and innovation base. For this solicitation, recipients will design, develop and manage a network of offices, physical and digital hubs, and other collaborative partnerships and projects designed to lower the barriers for entry for commercial and dual-use technology into the DoD. This will involve collaboration between a diverse set of stakeholders. The recipient(s) sought for this effort will provide direction to improve the ways in which non-traditional companies and talent can work with the DoD and grow regional defense innovation ecosystems. These efforts should be aligned with the types of commercial and dual-use technology that DIU is bringing into the Department with the speed and scale required for strategic effect. Responses are requested by January 21, 2025. Details about what is requested can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eBcnPj9v
