Enjoyed our “Merry Morning Feast” Friday celebrating these awesome ladies and their contributions to the success of DCS and the construction industry as a whole. DiverseCity Services took that momentum right into Saturday with our last leadership workshop of the year with N'Light'N Consulting LLC, BBB & HUB Certified as we went into a deep dive into time management and crucial conversations. My biggest take away was that we each have 1440 minutes in a day. While I think I manage my time well, this really caused me to do some self reflection to make sure I am making the best use of my time. More intentionality required. Also, most people do not want to deal with conflict but it’s a necessary part of growth. Most things can be cleared up by listening to hear and not react and pointed conversation. Nez Perce Tribe The Nez Perce Tribe is a federally recognized tribe in north-central Idaho with more than 3,500 enrolled citizens. Headquartered in Lapwai, ID, the Nez Perce Reservation spans about 770,000 acres. The current governmental structure is based on a constitution adopted by the tribe in 1948. The tribe is governed by a nine-member elected executive committee, known as the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee or NPTEC. The NPTEC is obligated to protect the health and welfare of the Nez Perce people. This means protecting and preserving treaty rights and tribal sovereignty, Nez Perce culture and the general environment of the reservation. History The Nimiipuu people have been connected to the lands and waters of modern-day Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Montana long before the creation of the Nez Perce Reservation. Great Lakota, Dakota, Nakota Nation The Lakota language dates back to 900 CE. The earliest Lakota history was recorded in waníyetu wówapi (winter counts). Lakota speakers had lived in the upper region known as Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Due to conflicts, they moved west and settled in the Great Plains where they found the Pahá Sápa (Black Hills). The Lakota made the Black Hills their home. The Beginnings Some of the earliest Oceti Sakowin history was documented by waníyetu wówapi (winter counts), which are pictorial calendars of prominent events. Images were drawn on animal hides, and later the calendars also used fabric and paper.
