Social media platforms have increased media consumption. It has also given consumers alternative options and viewpoints on how an issue is covered. Social media allows for more content and varying opinions to be expressed. The impact that social media has on journalism is along that note it also provides journalists with another resource for content and ideas. I don't feel that social media is a substitute for traditional news, I feel there is a level of standards and accountability that comes with being a journalist and should not be based on opinions or swayed by one's personal preferences. I think that social media just like wire feeds, and press releases should be used as a tool or resource as long as the facts and the content are thoroughly checked.
